DIY Vintage-looking Vase

I love adding natural materials to anything decor at #casacancado. Stone, wood, wool. The beauty of raw materials is something that I am always drawn to. The other day I found two large vases at a local salvage store. And while the scale, shape, and texture were just what I was looking for, the colors were not working at all.

Today I am sharing here how I transformed these $9 dated vases into a tailored and sculptural focal point by using only black and white paint. The final look is imperfect, and yet very elevated.

First, I painted the vases in a matte black color. I didn’t use spray paint as I was working with what I had at home. I used a medium-size brush to paint and the process was not only therapeutic (because that is the type of projects that I like!), but also pretty quick. Once the black paint was dry, I applied a coat of white paint. After the white coat was on, I wiped it off slightly before letting it dry completely. Wiping the white paint with a cloth helps in creating a beautiful texture.
