#lessisnow challenge
The New Year is always a great time to press pause and refresh. Lately, I have been seeking some changes to create a home free of stress and January seems like the perfect month to make this happen. But what exactly does that mean, right?
Our family has been living at our home, #casacancado, for about eight years now. And with three kids, our family of five has managed to gather way too many things over the years. And while we can be creative and organize containers packed with stuff, this is only a temporary solution. In the end, the only permanent solution to an unorganized home is to have fewer things.
Last month, I devoured a book about minimalism from Japanese author Fumio Sasaki. In his book “Goodbye, things” Fumio writes about how he changed his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn’t absolutely need. Although I love a minimal style and simple designs, I am not a minimalist. I am far from it. However, I do appreciate the idea of having less so you can take your time to do and care for things that matter. I also believe that by minimizing your items, you don’t have to neglect style or comfort.
So this month I have embarked on a decluttering adventure inspired by the #lessisnow challenge. Have you heard of it? In this challenge, the goal is to get rid of one item on the first day of the month, two items on the second day, three items on the third day, and so on. Alex decided to join me in this challenge, so we are doubling up on our goodbye items!
We are curious to see how this change will make us feel. Do you dare to give it a try with us? It is certainly not an easy task, but we are excited to try it out. You can learn more about this challenge here.
