There’s something undeniably grounding about walking into a space that feels both elevated and easy to live in. This recently completed bedroom remodel from our #edegewater_modern_retreat project strikes that balance with a refined, modern edge, layered with texture, warmth, and bold personality.

Let’s start with the walls. We used a soft limewash paint that adds subtle movement and organic texture, giving the room a quiet sense of depth. Paired with the wooden ceiling slats overhead, the result is a cocoon-like atmosphere that feels calming, yet design-forward. Hidden between those slats, LED lighting adds just the right amount of ambient glow, especially in the evenings when the room transforms into a true retreat.

The fireplace wall is a showstopper. We designed a long bench that runs beneath the firebox and topped it with quartz for a seamless look. It anchors the room while doubling as both a visual focal point and a practical perch.

At the center of it all: two sculptural accent chairs in a warm white and tan combo that add curves and softness to the clean lines throughout the space. They sit atop an oversized, moody rug that grounds the entire sitting area in front of the bed. Nearby, a chunky red marble side table adds just the right touch of drama and texture.

We also brought in statement sconces next to the bed, a bold, oversized piece that turns functional lighting into art. And to tie it all together, my own latest plaster artwork hangs above the bed, adding a personal and tactile layer to the design. This bedroom doesn’t whisper modern. It speaks it fluently, with every detail playing a part in the story.
