A Porch Renovation to Drool For
While we have worked so hard renovating our first ever house flip, I have not had the time to share all the good progress we are making at #flipmagnolia. But brace yourselves friends, because I am about to spam this blog with everything related to our lovely house flip.
Our journey started many moons ago, but this porch was only revived this past month. So let’s pop on this porch and see what we’ve been up to.
These less than perfect photos below feature a portrait of how the porch looked when we bought the house. During the porch renovation process, we actually managed to make this old porch look even worse. That’s because having that big porch also meant having the best-covered space to dump everything and anything we ever needed. So, after much neglect, we finally tackled this project and created a space that now welcomes visitors.
In order to update this neglected porch, we removed the old railing and replaced it with a black and white modern-looking design that helps give it a fresh new look. At first, we attempted to salvage the old railing by sanding it down. But the task was too daunting. And in the hot months of June and July, the only thing we should be doing at any porch is drinking mimosas, right? So we tossed the sanding tool and started with an all-new railing using simple yet elegant black square balusters and white painted wood.
The next big problem was the flooring. We decided to replace the flooring with these cool black vinyl tiles in a fun pattern. In addition to new floors and railings, we also painted the brick columns and spray washed the vinyl siding. This porch got new floating mounted house numbers and a simple black mailbox.
