Pillow Refresh

Today’s home project is brought to you by another day in quarantine. I hope your quarantine days are going well. We are happy to report that we are home and safe. Outside the weather is getting warmer, and the flowers are blooming. And even though, the allergies are kicking in, Spring is such an amazing time of the year. The Spring season always brings me this great energy that motivates me to purge and also shift things around #casacancado. Spring is the season to refresh and start again, and what better way to refresh a space than adding some new pillows, right?

Now, is there a rule when combining pillows, you may ask? I believe that the rule will vary depending on the style of the space itself. For a more eclectic and colorful room, I say mix different patterns and textures. Add fringe pillows or colorful velvet ones. If the look is more traditional, think of a simple color palette with a few simple patterns like stripes.

Following the minimal slash modern slash rustic decor from #casacancado, I chose a neutral color palette while minimizing the textures. I mixed and matched three solid-colored pillows in gray, black and white with one patterned pillow in the prettiest rust color. By pairing only one pattern with solid pillows, I was able to create a combination that looks very minimal and timeless.

When styling pillows at my house, I like to be able to just toss them on the couch while creating a casual look. That is why the pillow combination needs to be just perfect. I know these pillows will get shift a lot by the kids so, as long as all pillows work together, it really doesn’t matter how they are placed on the couch.

The large gray pillow is from Aura and all of the other ones are from Mae Woven.
