Five Ways To Use Live Garlands
Bringing natural elements into my minimalist décor is all I wanted for this Holiday season. So this year, we are using live garlands for our holiday decor at #casacancado. It’s our first time caring for live garlands, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will last until the 25th.
Here is what we learned so far:
- Live Garlands should soak in water overnight after you bring them home from the store.
- Garlands should also be sprayed with water every 2 to 3 days so they last longer.
What I like about this look is that there is no way to get it wrong. If you fear holiday décor, give a couple of garlands a try. Here are five ways to use live garlands this year.
Garland on the entrance door
Adding a simple garland around the doorway is a great reminder of the most wonderful time of the year for anyone that visits your house. Especially the mailman who has been working extra hard this time of the year.
Garland on a Mirror
Add a garland to a focal point on the wall. In our case, it was the big round mirror in the dining room. I love the green detail it brings to this neutral-colored space.
Garland on the Railings
A classic way to bring the Christmas spirit to any house is by adding greenery to a beautiful staircase railing. So here, we added this 20 feet long garland to our staircase. You can see this as you enter the house and it immediately sets the Holiday mood.
Garland on the mantle
A fireplace mantle always calls for a garland. Dressing up the fireplace mantle with a garland creates a cozy spot for late nights by the fire.
Garland on Picture Ledges
This ledge in our family room is always working as some kind of decor focal point. Due to its large size, anything that we add to it makes a great impact. Remember our Halloween decor here?
