Designing a Balcony with Unbeatable Views

I'm thrilled to showcase the final space of our Going Heights project—the balcony with its breathtaking view! This area is quite unique—it's long and narrow, presenting an interesting design challenge, but one that I was eager to tackle. Here, every element was handpicked with care, from the furniture to the greenery and decor accents, all working together to create the perfect atmosphere.

My client's wishlist was clear: a space to entertain guests, an outdoor dining nook, and a relaxing lounge area. To bring this vision to life, I delineated designated zones. The first setup features a welcoming sofa and accent chair combo for guests, setting the tone for a comfortable gathering space. Then, opposite the kitchen in the central area of the balcony, I arranged a dining setup featuring a round aluminum table, four comfortable chairs, and a sleek white console. Finally, stealing the spotlight in front of the primary bedroom, is the incredibly comfy day bed facing the beautiful view.

I teamed up with Charlie from Grizzard Nursery to incorporate lush greenery into this space, bringing vibrancy to every corner. At each end of the balcony, we positioned large rectangular planters filled with low-maintenance Lariope. Along the edges, four medium-sized planters held stunning Cast Iron plants. We added three large planters featuring Bay Laurel to complete the transformation, ensuring year-round greenery with minimal maintenance. It's incredible to see how this space has been revitalized and is now fully functional.
