Custom Floating Sink
Wow, I was going over some before and after photos from #flipmagnolia this morning and I couldn’t believe the transformation. Sure, I went through it all and it shouldn’t be a surprise. But the more time passes, the harder it is to remember how it all looked before. So today I am sharing another amazing room transformation from #flipmagnolia, including a custom floating sink plus all the sources.
So, let’s talk powder room, shall we? The powder room at #flipmagnolia was a new addition to the house. Before renovations took place, the powder room was a pantry. This house is about 1,300 square feet. So a large pantry didn’t fit within our design plan. Instead, we decided to eliminate the pantry and transform it into a much-needed powder room.
First, my contractor opened the wall that faced the dining room to frame the new door. Along with the new framing work, he also closed up the door on the other wall that leads to the kitchen. More demo went on so that the new plumbing and electrical work could be completed following the new bathroom design plan.
Once the new plumbing and electrical were completed, it was time to close the walls and lay down the new ceramic tiles. At first, we wanted to use wallpaper on an accent wall as a focal point but then decided to paint the wall a solid color instead. Since we were trying to keep things very neutral in this flip we felt like an accent black wall would create a great contrast in this room and not be limited to a wallpaper pattern.
And I guess every beautiful accent wall deserves a beautiful custom floating sink, right? We used a couple of maple boards and a dark black stain to create the custom floating sink. We created a box and then attached it to brackets that had been installed on the walls. A simple rectangle white sink plus brass faucet completes the look.
