When it came time to design the boys' bunk room at the beach house, I knew I wanted to create a space that was not only functional for the boys but also filled with character, texture, and a touch of adventure. After all, this room had to stand up to all the fun that beach house living brings, while also providing a cozy retreat after a long day in the sun.

The room showcases two sleek, modern bunk beds, each enhanced with a custom railing made from copper pipes coated with black paint. The railing’s clean lines bring a contemporary feel, beautifully contrasting with the organic textures throughout the space, adding a modern touch without overpowering the room's laid-back vibe.

To make the room truly special, I incorporated some of our favorite moments from our latest trip to Portugal. The gallery wall, featuring photos from our travels, not only brings a personal touch to the room but also serves as a constant reminder of the beautiful places we've explored together. These images, printed with the help of Artifact Uprising, were thoughtfully curated to add personality and a splash of color to the space. It’s amazing how art can tell a story, and in this case, it’s the story of our family’s adventures.

In keeping with the beach house’s overall design, I infused organic elements throughout the bunk room. Soft linens, natural wood accents, and earthy tones tie the space together, giving it a warm, welcoming feel.

Designing this space was an exciting project, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. The industrial DIY touches, the meaningful artwork, and the organic details all come together to create a room that’s not only functional but full of life and character. It's a space where memories will be made, and for me, that’s the most important part of any design.
