Airstream Update: It’s Finally Coming Together!

Renovating an Airstream is a journey—one that has tested our patience, skills, and creativity. It has taken time (more than we expected, if we’re being honest), but we’re finally at the stage where it’s all coming together. What once felt like a shell of a camper is now starting to look like a thoughtfully designed home on wheels.

Once the interior skins were up, we moved on to framing—a crucial step in locking in the layout and setting the foundation for everything to come. With the structure in place, we meticulously mapped out the plumbing, making sure every element—from the water pump and holding tanks to the drain valve and water inlet hookup—was positioned for both function and efficiency. It was a deep dive into the details, full of challenges and problem-solving, but also an incredible learning experience every step of the way.

With the plumbing in place, we could finally shift our focus to the cabinetry—a key design element that would define the look and feel of the space. Built from plywood and elevated with a continuous wood panel detail that runs throughout the camper, it brought warmth and character to the interior. Once that was installed, we moved on to the fun part—adding the appliances, sinks, and finally, the countertop. The seating area also got its finishing touch with beautifully crafted custom cushions, which I can’t wait to share more about soon!

Now we’re onto the screen frames—kind of like adding window trim, the final detail that makes everything feel complete. After years of hard work, it’s crazy to see it all finally coming together. It’s not just a renovation project anymore; it’s a nearly finished space that already has so many stories to tell… and we haven’t even taken it for a spin yet!
