For the beach house project, I wanted to design a primary bedroom that was inviting and warm, but most importantly, I wanted to design a room with a primary focus on simple living. With minimal aesthetics in mind, my goal was to carefully create a simple but very elegant space to unwind and relax after a fun-filled day at the beach.

When you walk into this room, the atmosphere is imbued with an organic essence, characterized by neutral hues, streamlined forms, and rustic textures. The show stopper in this bedroom is undoubtedly the exquisite bed, covered with a water-based Dune finish. The light-colored bed frame, featuring a headboard upholstered in yarn-dyed linen weave in alabaster fabric, evokes the serene tones of the nearby sandy shores.

The terracotta side tables, boasting a soft top and textured pedestal base, introduce both warmth and tactility to this neutrally adorned space. The rounded contours of the side tables adjacent to the bed contribute to the overall simplicity of the composition, while the terracotta hue injects a playful vibrancy. Soft, rounded edges extend seamlessly from the side tables to the bed frame, table lamps, and the gracefully curved waterfall boucle ottomans.

I created two custom artworks for this bedroom. The 19x27-inch artwork above the bed complements the headboard fabric, but its off-center placement adds an element of deliberate asymmetry and demands attention. Meanwhile, the large gray piece measuring 24x48 inches is strategically positioned between the beautifully black framed windows. This placement helps to guide your eyes from the bed scene to the adjacent side wall. I love the contrast this gray artwork brings to this composition and how it creates a conversation with the two gray ottoman pieces by the end of the bed.
