Home for the Holidays – Holiday Décor
I am happy to say that Casa Cancado is Holiday ready! Getting our home ready for the holidays is a very special time for me. I love to make the house feel festive, and I also love that there are so many ways of going about it. What are some of your DOs and DON’Ts when decorating for the Holidays? How is your home for the holidays?
Here are a few of my MUST haves and must NOT haves when decorating for Christmas time.
Christmas Tree
When decorating the Christmas tree, I feel that most ornaments MUST color coordinate. Also, the Christmas tree must NOT be too lean. I like the tree to be big and fat with lots of lights.
Mantel
The mantel MUST be decorated. However, it must NOT be too traditional. I like to stay away from reds and add a simple green garland with ornaments that match the tree.
Stockings
We MUST have stockings for the whole family, but they don’t need to always hang from the mantel.
Decorative items
It is always imperative that we sprinkle decorative holiday items throughout the house. Items MUST follow a theme, such as color, size or design when grouped together. But they must NOT take over the whole décor of the house.
Greenery
Adding greenery is a MUST for sure. However, the greenery can be a mix of a traditional juniper garland with some clippings from your yard.
