When I imagined the dining room at our beach house, I knew it needed to strike a delicate balance: elegant enough for a Thanksgiving feast, but relaxed enough to welcome sandy feet and post-swim snacks. I wanted a space that felt elevated but also easygoing—a place where barefoot dinners didn’t feel out of place, and yet you could still light candles and open a bottle of wine without it feeling too formal or fussy. It needed to invite gathering, connection, and celebration, all while embracing the carefree rhythm of life by the ocean.

This dining space is designed to host it all. From family dinners with 16 people squeezed around the table to spontaneous lunches with wet bathing suits, it holds the spirit of flexibility and celebration. The seating was key: the woven chairs are stylish and durable, which means they can handle the occasional towel-covered guest or an accidental spill without sacrificing the aesthetic. The long table—built by us with love and maybe a little sawdust in our hair—anchors the room and invites lingering. It serves as a backdrop for connection, conversation, and clinking glasses.

Above it all, the sculptural light fixtures float like modern-day beach lanterns. Their organic forms and woven textures echo the natural ease of coastal living, softening the room and casting a warm, inviting glow over the long table below. There’s something calming about their symmetry—an intentional rhythm that complements the clean lines and materials in the nearby kitchen. Together, the kitchen and dining room create a cohesive dialogue—relaxed, refined, and effortlessly connected.
