Beach House Initial Plans
The initial plans for the beach house have been drafted, and I am working closely with my contractor as we order each item ahead of time to beat the current supply delays. The renovations have started, and I am anticipating that this plan may change some. But this is the initial idea. This plan is the dream.
For the exterior of the house, I want to use Everlast vertical board & batten siding. This siding is the perfect choice for a beach house aesthetic, and the composite material is super durable and maintenance-free. We opted for the white color and plan on pairing it with black casement windows from Marvin. The coastline window collection from Marvin is perfect for beach locations, and the clean lines complement this contemporary aesthetic.
The backyard is getting a major makeover. Before renovations started, almost one-third of the backyard was covered in bamboo. The overgrown bamboo made it hard to picture the potential the backyard has and how spacious it is. The main idea of the backyard design plan is to maximize the use of the space the best we can.
There are four fundamental elements we need in this space. A large storage area, a pool, a dining area, and a lounging area. The composition features a pergola set against the storage area. This pergola creates a canopy for the long dining table that can seat up to sixteen people. The pool is equipped with a heater to extend its use and an automatic cover to make maintenance a bliss. I created two distinct lounge areas, one for sunbathing and another by a fire pit. All the elements here are very intentional and focused on how our families can interact in this space.
Another durable material choice for the exterior is the TimberTech decking. My favorite sample is the weathered teak from their vintage collection. This decking color paired with bluestone pool coping and poured concrete pavers is looking sharp.
Inside, I have completed the bathroom and kitchen plans, and I will be sharing that soon. I have not purchased any furniture yet, but the rendering below is a glimpse of what to expect for the new open floor plan.
