Sometimes you have to take your time and wait for the right moment to start a renovation project. When quarantine happened back in March of 2020, my client found herself needing a space where she could unwind and relax. After sharing a home 24/7 with her family, my client had not only found the perfect excuse to take on her renovation project, but she had also found the motivation she needed.

There is something special about getting an opportunity to redefine a space, a chance to reimagine an environment, and I was thrilled to take on this living/dining room project. When redesigning this space, the main focus was to create a casual place for family lounging or entertaining. The design goal was to create an elegant yet casual vibe, mixing some existing pieces like her piano with new statement pieces.

To create this effortless look, we paired a leather sofa with a patterned rug and fabric lounge chair. We lighten up the room by painting the walls a light color while eliminating the beige carpet. Once all the new elements were united, we were able to create an attractive and joyful composition.

When looking for an oversize artwork above the piano, I turned to Juniper Prints. I love Juniper Prints oversized artwork option. This UV-resistant, vinyl hybrid paper fits perfectly into the affordable IKEA Bjorksta Canvas. You can learn all about their installation process here.

In the dining room, a dining table that has been passed over a generation is paired with modern black chairs. This room got a new window treatment, a new sleek console, a chandelier, and new floors. The existing cabinets got a fresh coat of paint and new black hardware.
