We SOLD Our First House Flip
Our flipping journey started in December of 2018. We had searched and searched for the perfect house to remodel for many months before finally purchasing #flipmagnolia. In all honesty, in one way, the house was not the perfect flip at all. Because this was our first time flipping a house, this particular remodel was very daunting for us, first-timers. But on the other hand, working on a house that needed everything done also meant having huge learning lessons.
We ended up starting renovations only in February of 2019. And by August 2019, we were staging #flipmagnolia to get it ready to put it on the market. We worked with a very small budget that forced us to get creative when choosing the house finishes. A creative challenge is one that I always appreciate. Even though I would feel stuck at times, finding the solution and seeing the results is really what the creative process is all about.
But when hiring a contractor was not feasible, that’s when Raquel and I struggled the most. We both ended up doing a lot of the finishing work such as sanding floor, painting walls, installing countertops, and more. We worked way more than anticipated. Perhaps, ten times more than we anticipated. Weekends and weekdays, white dust and all. But in the end, as cliché as it sounds, it was all worth it.
We sold our first house flip in October 2019 to a couple moving from California. We had 10 months of lessons, hardships, and victories. And we have decided to take everything that we’ve learned and give it another shot at flipping. We are now hunting for a new house flip and hope to find one soon.
