Sometimes a cute prop goes a long way. Before you start photographing your pets this holiday season, think about their personality. Is there anything they always chew on that should be used as a prop? Think about their favorite toy, sleeping place, or perhaps consider even their favorite ride when trying to capture their personalities.
Next time you see a moment that is just that special, don’t waste any time. Pull your phone out and shoot to your heart’s content. Your next best photo might be the one you never planned on taking. Also, think about the different angles when capturing an image. Shooting at your pets’ level will give you the best shot of their faces, making it a more personal moment.
Your pet can be the main subject here or not. Either way, when photographing pets with their people, it helps to give the photo scale as well as meaning. Maybe sure you pick a place with great lighting. Shooting outside is always the best option.
The easiest way to capture your pet is to wait for nap time. This way, there is no fussing, no running, and therefore, no blurry photos. Try moving its bed to a place with great lighting or place a nice blanket outside during this beautiful Fall weather. If you set the stage just right, when nap time comes, it will feel like you anticipated the magic.
